馬修在中正紀念堂演奏會時說 他個人覺得 這樣的方式 是很藝術性的舉動（當然並沒有鼓勵大家去做這種事啦）

陳明才，阿才，在崖上留下一封震驚文化界的「天佑都蘭鼻」，選擇以跳海來結束他的生命。
阿才不是阿美族人，而是來自台北的表演藝術工作者。阿才的跳海，有人解讀是連年在都蘭奔走、組織社區運動的他，為了保護族人聖地使然，也有人認為這場悲劇導因於他的躁鬱症。
阿才之死之所以震撼文化界，在於他是如此一個年輕且及編、導、演天分於一身的劇場鬼才。阿才為自己編寫的年表裡寫著「1991年：鐵工廠工人。1992年：
大樓清潔工、送報員 。1993年：鐵路電桿絕緣體清潔工、魚貨包裝員。佛像雕塑工人至1995年。1994年：木工。1995年：撿破爛。」
在他來不及為自己作傳的最後幾年，遁入後山的他期許自己成為一位積極入世的藝術家，全心投入都蘭部落戲劇發展工作，也糾集志同道合的伙伴，成功爭取將都蘭新東糖廠閒置空間轉化為藝術家合力經營的藝術文化園區，甚至在
決定離開人世
的前幾天，他還參加了都蘭鼻開發案的公聽會，為保存台灣美麗環境而疾呼奔走。這位兀傲堅持多年來放浪形骸、遊走於劇場、美術、電影、社區、環保，以及一切
反體制人文運 動的傳奇性人物，終究決定以身體作祭文，像崩斷的琴弦，不再發出鳴響。
終究，陳明才的犧牲喚醒了阿美族的長老們，展開了一連串爭取回復傳統領域的行動，BOT案也因為這暴烈的海祭而中斷，直挺挺的柏油路因此無能更進一步。
